Batman Arkham City part 1 as the dust settles.

Forewarning
Batman Arkham city is made by rocksteady games and is the sequal to the 2009 smash hit Batman Arkham Asylum. I recommend playing Batman Arkham Asylum before you play Arkham City as the plot assumes you have played it and it does not give the greatest tutorial on how to play the game. This is a major flaw of the game as it prohibits new players from being able to simple pick this game up and play it with the same enjoyment of fans of the series. Myself I have not played Arkham asylum since I beat it and the challenge maps I did not even come back when more dlc challenge maps came out as they were essentially the same fight in a different locations so without a tutorial it took me a while to get back to the feel of the game.

Setting
Much like the previous Batman title there is a a world to explore and learn about but unlike the previous game it is easy to get lost while gliding as bat around the city controlled by various factions even more so when you weaken or take out one the bosses the various factions take over that area. The riddle trophies are more mini puzzles or mini-games while also being spread among the entire city making collecting every single one seem more of a hassle over being a reward for exploring as you need to backtrack a lot because you do not have the gadget to get the trophy in the first place. The scan for clues are back but they are not explained at all in the game which pisses me off a lot as I have forgotten almost everything about the game.

I sure am lazy to not post my screenshot

Gameplay
The movement in this game in combat is incredibly fluid in most cases as you watch Batman jump from guy to guy like a pogo stick but gliding and running around does not always do what you want it to or even expect it to as the game does not allow Batman and Catwoman to climb or jump over every single object or grapnel to all ledges. Speaking of Catwoman she has her own side storyline missions not as much as the big bad Bat but has enough attention to enjoy climbing up a wall like a cat to a tree or whipping to a building further away than the whip should be able to hit as well as her personalised fight style and items to flesh out the individuality of the character. You can also play Robin, Catwoman, various Batman skins and Nightwing in the upcoming dlc in the challenge missions which I have yet to play or see but I will you be rest assured.

Graphics
Using the unreal engine like the previous batman makes it have a nice gritty vibe with nice aesthetics as you fly from turf to turf. As the game progresses the entire city changes depending on who the main villain is your chasing at the time including Batman's costume with new gear and as it gets ripped. These things create as sense as if what you do correctly effects the game world unlike other sandbox games where the game world does not change and you feel as if your actions do not mean anything.

Summary
As I am playing this game on the ps3 as it is much more enjoyable to play a 3rd person camera game on a dual analog sticks over a mouse and keyboard so I cannot post screenshot but I have gotten some from various websites on the Internet! Also do not forget to check out my other reviews (they are a lot better than this one as it was one of my first reviews) and to click on the ads to support me doing this as a hobby.
